What Goes On In Your Mind

I’ve been binging on documentaries lately, and this looks like another good one. I got into the VU around the same time I was getting into R.E.M., so it was kind of like listening to the student and the teacher at the same time. I mean these guys, and Nico + Warhol, were pretty out there, but they put together some good records.

I never really was big on Lou Reed solo, in fact, my dumb ass didn’t even know he was in the VU until a few years later.

Very Metal, And Lots Of Other Stuff

This guy Mike Strick seems to be pretty talented at making cool figurines. He’s made the Young Ones, the monsters from Where the Wild Things Are, a Voight Kampff machine, and all kinds of other cool stuff that would look nice on your mantle.

Go check out his site and buy something for Bastard HQ.

Willy Wonka Horror

Roald Dahl’s books are pretty twisted for their target audience. Well, here’s what Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory would look like as it should be. The first bit talks about how they made it, but the real fun starts around 12:47. This cracked me up…

The suspense is terrible. I hope it’ll last…

Of course this made me think of this little gem from an earlier version of this blargh

Kubrick + Stewart + Hitchcock

Ok this blew my mind. This is your brain on drugs. This is just so cool…

But no Dr Strangelove…

Netflix and Quarantine

I guess the world is closed at the moment. What’s your recommendation for stuff to binge on Netflix/Hulu/Prime?

The Unabomber doc on Netflix is good and only a few recommendations. The Michael Hutchence documentary was a little disappointing. Birth of the Cool about Miles Davis was good.

I’m on episode 3 of You and liking it so far.

What else ya got ye bastards… I’ll also accept book recommendations
