“I don’t think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you’ve got all these wonderful experiences, wtih different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them.”

  2. FFJ was an interesting case. It’s still not clear whether she knew just how bad she was. She gave many recitals, and many outstanding musicians loved to hear her mess things up. Some people were not able to stifle laughter. She either played along with the joke or didn’t notice all the laughter.

The pianist in that recording is a real pro. He does an amazing job following her wretched timing.

  3. I didn’t see the film, or even recall it coming out, but I bet it’s decent. We may need to watch it for Bastard Book Club.

[not technically a book, but somehow still apt]

    1. I’m in. I didn’t know about the movie either; found out about it when I did a YouTube search on FFJ and something with Meryl Streep came up.
