Back in junior high I started wondering who “they” are. At some point I figured out they’re an illusion. Conspiracy theories assume an impossible amount of competence. You could never carry out a cultural pogrom in secret. The only ones that worked to some degree ( China’s cultural revolution, the Nazi’s, etc.) were explicit about their goals.
Tastes change, get over it.
Given the successful mega tours of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and the like, I don’t know if he’s right that rock draws the biggest audiences. Maybe. Rock fans would have more disposable income, as they trend older. But there are plenty of young people who prefer older rock to most contemporary music. Pendulum may swing back, but the new rock will of course sound lame to the old geezers.
