I checked 100 Best Zombie Movies Ranked and had only seen Re-Animator, Shaun of the Dead, and Corpse Bride among the top 20.
Evil Dead II wasn’t on the list so maybe it didn’t meet full zombie criteria. I never watched Walking Dead and haven’t seen any of the Romero movies. Total novice. But it seemed strange to me that Shaun is ranked 4th as I liked it but wasn’t bowled over.
Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island, not even starring the original cast, is somehow much higher than Day of the Dead.
I’m a zombie movie novice as well. The only serious zombie films I recall seeing are Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead.
For some reason, when typing the above paragraph, I mistakenly began the second “dead” with an “fr,” which gave me the autocorrect option of “Fred,” as in “Night of the Living Fred.” Anyone for a Flintstones zombie movie parody?
Semi-regular viewings of Shawn of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are beloved rituals at Castle Renfield.
It’s great that in the era of streaming there are enough obsessive nerds out there to support the work of these studios.
The Curse of Frankenstein restoration was stunning.
Agreed!

Most important: Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies, beloved by all of us, is ranked only #78. This is a crime.
Of all the movies on the list, I can wholeheartedly recommend the following:
Train to Busan
Zombieland
The Autopsy of Jane Doe
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Planet Terror
Return of the Living Dead
