I keep saying I’m going to the next movie, when the last one I watched was Darjeeling Limited.
But this time I might!

Man, I dunno. I’m a Wes Anderson fan, but I didn’t make it through The French Dispatch, and I thought Asteroid City was tedious as hell. Is this one a return to form where the actors are allowed to emote?
I’ll be the guinea pig. I’m going this afternoon.
Sorry for the delay. This year, being off work is more work than being at work. The usual catching up on house stuff, but many extra appointments on account of being really old.
I liked the Phoenician Scheme. You get the usual WA baseline: goofy, non sequitur, expressionless humor; beautiful cinematography; great music, and intensive object-fetishism. But it’s an improvement over The French Dispatch (which I disliked) and Asteroid City (which I liked), simply because it has a more linear storyline and moves along much better.
Mrs. Renfield, who did not like the previous two, enjoyed it, so you might also. I found The French Dispatch confusing and strangely alienating. I liked Asteroid City, although I get why others didn’t. I go to WA movies for the beautiful cinematography and for good clean spectrumy fun, and I wasn’t disappointed.
Thanks for the review!
