Some of these are hilarious. Great parody of “jazz dance” beginning at 12:40.

This album had a few more good ones. Don’t know what became of these guys. Apparently they made this album, toured, then parted ways. Nothing like touring to turn people against each other.
You never hear Alice Cooper mentioned as a power pop pioneer, but this song from ’73 checks all the boxes. AC has said that they were copying Substitute by The Who, and you can certainly hear that in the guitar intro. More interesting (to me, anyway) is that the the beginning of the verses are very close to the verses of Let’s Spend the Night Together by the Rolling Stones. Creative theft at its best.

Nice article on Elvis Costello and his current health over at the Beast.
Most surprising item: His mother is still alive!
Killer chorus, and that bridge is fucking sublime.

The 2019 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees just came out. Makerbot will be happy to know that Devo made the list for the first time. Radiohead, The Cure, Kraftwerk, LL Cool J, Janet Jackson, Rage Against the Machine, and several others made the list as well. I was a little surprised to see John Prine’s name on there. Here’s more information and all the people that made the list
