While we’re revisiting great covers…this one achieves the impossible by being better than the Kinks’ original, in my opinion. I doubt anyone else has ever bested the Kinks. Another Nick Lowe production.

I saw her live once, and she was clearly singing, but she had a guitar track. She’d be away from the mic, and you’d hear her counting off. At one point, it got totally flubbed and she pointed to a guy at a soundboard offstage and said ‘you’re fired.’
What a great track. I’d never seen that video.
