New Coen brothers movie available on Netflix. Anybody seen it? I’m ready to discuss, goddammit.
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs is a six-part Western anthology film, a series of tales about the American frontier told through the unique and incomparable voice of Joel and Ethan Coen. Each chapter tells a distinct story about the American West.
Is this going to be like Maniac, where you tell everyone to watch it, then I watch it and want to talk about it, and you confess to having quit after three episodes?
I didn’t quit, I’m pacing myself. Four episodes to go!
And anyway, Ballad is a movie. One and done.
Well, I guess I’ll be starting this tonight…
I Loooooooooved it. I want to go back and watch it again. The Tom Waits part was excellent, but if no one else has watched it, I will refrain from saying anything else about it.
Let’s give them a few more days …
I finished all the episodes! Am I late to the party?
Not at all! Which vignette was your favorite?
I’ll have to watch it a couple more times to see what really rises to the top. Meal Ticket was haunting.
When Tom Waits got shot it made me think of Will Ferrell’s “You shot me!” from Austin Powers … because I’m an idiot.
I completely missed what was really going on in The Mortal Remains (the last one) until I heard the Coen brothers discuss it on Fresh Air. That might be my favorite.
