Noel Redding was a guitarist who took up bass to play with Hendrix, an opporunity that emerged only because Billy Cox couldn’t afford to come to England. Maybe Noel was still learning the ropes. Guitarists tend to think they can just pick up a bass and play it as well as they can play guitar. It’s fun to watch them crash and burn.
