Delayed by the pandemic, of course. Your Academy is a Memphis supergroup of sorts, made up of likeminded middle-agers. I think the video’s been up a year but the vinyl is new. What a set of pipes on that Brandon McGovern! (I’ve always loved his voice.)

“Since leaving crash into june, Gafford and Shumake had lately been seen in Stephen Burns’ most recent reincarnation of The Scruffs.”

I haven’t listened yet, but I just read FE’s linked article. I was amused at “Better Alone Together,” a song about Alex Chilton and Lesa Aldridge. “Better Alone” would be a better title. Or “Frankenstein Meets Wolfman.” It’s funny how some younger people romanticize them and that whole milieu. It was sordid as fuck.
