  1. Some of those weren’t hits in the US. I don’t think “Mull of Kintyre” was even released here, although it was Sir Paul’s all-time biggest single in England. No doubt many teary-eyed sing-alongs in northern pubs.

I don’t think Bony M ever had a US hit, which is why you haven’t heard of them.

It strains credulity to think that “Knock Three Times” and “Seasons in the Sun” were hits at all, much less #1’s. There are a number of other duds. Proof that a huge majority of people cannot be admitted to a musical discussion.

But plenty of good stuff too. Thanks for posting, many of those were bigger than I would have guessed.

Correction: “Mull of Kintyre” was released in the US, but it flopped.

  2. Bee Gees, Macca, and ABBA had a solid decade. Some of those emmereffers were lucky as hell. Looking at you, Rupert Holmes!

    1. By the way, I could have told Macca et alia that “Mull of Kintyre” would never fly in the US. But those arrogant bastards didn’t even bother to ask.
