Someone smarter than me needs to analyze why it’s so gratifying to hate Mike Love. It seems to go deeper than standard villain hatred, but at the same time it’s fun in a WWF sort of way.
If I may: I think it´s some combination of redheaded cousin with an adenoidal drone, topped off by overall douchiness and awkward dancing.
In some ways, his voice is a decent foil for the sublime strains of Carl and Brian. And he may well have contributed more than he gets credit for. But the apparent lack of self-awareness doesn´t help to grow the Mike Love fanbase.
I’m in! Especially if they spend a good chunk of it talking about what a prick Mike Love is.
