I’m in the process of finishing up Vonnegut’s Slapstick, a book I picked up for $1.99 (Cheap!) on Amazon. I bought it five years ago but only recently got around to reading the damn thing. I like it, but I don’t love it. It’s the novel that gave us a quote you’ve probably seen here and there online: “Why don’t you take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut? Why don’t you take a flying fuck at the mooooooooooooon?” (I really should start working that line into conversation.)
Next up, I may circle back to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy or that Bowie bio I started a year ago.
I envy you your first reading of Hitchikers’ Guide. Too many Vogons where we live, great to see them portrayed so accurately.
The nightstand currently has Room to Dream (the David Lynch biography) and Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
And my stupid chromebook, which I should just turn off.
Added to my Wishlist, thanks!
This is really just a trick to get you to tell me what to read next.
Does anyone read on a tablet or kindle or whatever?
I like all my books to be paper, and my newspapers too.
And please get thee off my land parcel.
I’ve been reading books on a Kindle for a while. Very convenient, especially when reading a 1,200 page book in bed or buying something new at 11:00 PM.
But you don’t get the smell and feel of the pages! Mmmmmmmm….
And apparently, retention goes through the floor when you read on a device. I just thought it was because I’m old.
