This trailer scared the shit out of me as a kid. Turns out, it’s based on an excellent Laird Koenig book from 1974. I just finished it on Kindle, so I may have to see if I can find the movie streaming somewhere.
Tales of True Adventure for Rugged Men Not Unlike Yourself

I remember this film well from the early days of HBO. That, Carrie and a movie called the Homebodies all scared the shit out of me, and I remember them to this day, even though (with the exception of Carrie), I’ve never heard anyone mention either of them.
I don’t remember Homebodies, but I sure as hell remember The Dark Secret of Harvest Home.
First time I saw this was on a hotel TV (family vacation driving around in Canada), across the road from a cemetery! Fog too. Talk about creepy.
Also of note: the guy that plays the cop is Mort Shuman, rock n roll songwriting legend (Pomus/Shuman).
Holy shit, he wrote “Viva Las Vegas!”
I saw that!
On network TV when I was probably too young to watch it.
Really creeped me out.

I had a friend who would literally dive behind his couch when that one came on.
