Imagine no possessions! I can’t, actually, but then I’ve never asked anyone else to.
Never mind that shit, Paul Newman’s Rolex Daytona sold at auction for $17.8 million!
I think I mentioned to some of you bastards that I was reading Albert Goldman’s The Lives of John Lennon, mostly to see what they big deal was. (Barbara Streisand Effect in the house!) And to be honest, I’ve stalled out during an extended middle section where Ono is being raked over the coals for being a horrible parent and talentless con artist.
It’s a fun, trashy read if y’all are curious, and fascinating in the way Goldman takes stories you’re probably already familiar with and puts the worst spin possible on Lennon’s (and Ono’s) motivations.
Having said that, I don’t think it’s a particularly shocking revelation that Lennon was a deeply flawed, incredibly talented human being.
That’s a great article, full of intrigue and detective work!
Belongs in a collection with the Hofner bass story.
