Some dude bought Hammer Films a few years ago and is restoring the catalog in 4K – from the original negatives! I found the YouTube channel and watched a few trailers; these things are absolutely stunning.
Anyway, here’s an eight-minute video explaining the process. I understood some of it.

Yes, please. I’ll enjoy reliving my misspent youth.
You’re in luck! Still a few copies available of the box set. $180.00! Cheap!
Cool!
During a recent trip to Austin I got to hang out with a guy who has been Christopher Nolan’s assistant editor (Dunkirk, Dark Knight Rises, Inception, etc)… we enjoyed a private screening of Friedkin’s Sorceror.
It was wild because I could ask him anything about how movies are made and he would explain how films evolved over the past several decades. Like a private TED talk just for me.
Anyway, I think I would like a restorative spa weekend where I get my original negative de-warped and maybe my cyans adjusted.
Holy shit, that’s amazing! And I just realized I’ve never seen Sorcerer. Is it worth a look?
That’s very cool, Monkeystador.
You can get just the blue ray disc of the restored COF on Amazon for around $20. Just ordered it. To recapture my young Renfield vibe, I’ll watch it when I’m supposed to be doing something else, like maybe taxes or work prep. Those Hammer Films were among the many late shows I’d watch in lieu of studying and doing homework.
I hope they get around to the sequel and the Dracula series.
