Same with this. I don’t need the magic dissected or explained. I had no idea going in what The Thing was about, where or how they made it.
It was fantastic to experience.
It’s all right there, on the screen.
Like Lynch, Carpenter treats the audience like we’re not dopes. Like we can make of it what we will. Like we believe cinema is its own language.
The Green Knight was a recent film that felt that way to me.
I almost never watch “Making Of” stuff or listen to commentary tracks.
Except Room 237. That was nuts.
